Never in multiple universes and centuries would I ever think that I would be praising Rush Limbaugh, but holy shit… I am. Through all of the horrible reporting that had been going on after the horrible Boston Bombing, no one had apologized. CNN stood there and just moved on, not saying anything, not even a whoops or a dammit to show a screw up. The AP, who is essentially the media filter outlet that most news flows through, didn’t apologize nor recognize that they screwed up royal. FOX relied on CNN and their sources thus looking like asshats as well, but Rush Limbaugh… actually apologized for not checking and double checking sources… Oh. My. God.
Mike Huckabee, a fundamentalist Christian who has his regular talk show on FOX News, has taken time out of explaining how school killings are due to the lack of God, to enlighten us on the real problem within the GOP. They might be ok with being gay. Huckabee was joined by crazy man Tony Perkins who heads the bitchy Family Research Council (FRC) and soon to be forgotten Gary Bauer who main goal in life is to make gays second class citizens with his National Organization for Marriage (NOM).
The threat made by all 3 men is that if the Republican party for some reason accepts homosexuals for the dastardly sin of making their own individual choices, that they will leave the GOP and form a new party, a 3rd party for evangelical Christians to feel confident about. I say go ahead, see how that works.
Howard Schultz has been openly pro gay civil rights for awhile now, but it came to a head when stockholder Tom Strobhar complained that Starbucks backing a same-sex marriage bill in Washington was hurting their bottom line.
“In the first full quarter after this boycott was announced, our sales and our earnings — shall we say politely — were a bit disappointing,” said Strobher, who is the founder of the anti-abortion, anti-gay Corporate Morality Action Center (CMAC). Howard Schultz fired back and showed rare humility from a Corporation.
Now I have written about the Tea Party several times and some of the ass backwards thought processes they have, but I also do agree with some of their views and thoughts in principle. What I agree with is that government should be transparent, that civil liberties should be restored and that government needs to get its hands off certain things. I also agree that Obamacare is a very stuffed piece of legislation, necessary though it is. Where they lose me is by refusing, at all, to be moderate or to work with liberals or democrats at all. It is what coined the Tea Party as the party of no. With darlings like Sarah Palin, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio they feel like they have taken it to the establishment of the GOP and showed them that they, the Tea Party, mean business. What they have really done in retrospect, is decimate their own political goals using a mixture of cut and paste and smash and grab.
In an interesting turn of political events, we have come to this. Tea Partyists are quickly taking up arms against Republicans that they deem not Conservative enough. Chris Christie, a governor who is brash, has been criticized and campaigned against because he responded to President Obama favorably instead of with disdain after the hurricane. Instead of rallying around a candidate like Christie, who could more than likely win the Presidency as he is a Conservative, but an open minded one, who appeals across the board.
Then to add even more to this comedy show that is becoming the Tea Party, they have now labeled Newt Gingrich a Progressive. Not only is he not Progressive, he is about as Conservative as it comes, yet because he has talked bad about the Tea Party, rightfully so at that, he is now an enemy. The Tea Party is quickly becoming cannibalistic.
Bulgaria, a small country on the east of the Black Sea, has had major economic problems and due to austerity, which is sweeping it’s debt infested hand across southern and eastern Europe, protests have become as common place as unemployment.
If his speech wasn’t cringe worthy enough this tidbit is absolutely terrifying… try to survive the 51 disturbing lip smacking sound seconds.
The Tea Party, a weird assortment of angry republicans that refuse to get behind any representative that is willing to work with a democrat, namely Barack Obama, has founded itself on the connection to the Tea Party of the 1700’s. They were fighting tyranny! Right? That’s what they state at least. But in reality (something they tend to avoid) there is not just no connection between the two, but they are in fact absolutely opposite to the T.
This title no doubt has grabbed your attention. I do not condone nor think what they do is good for the world, in fact I believe the opposite. The WBC is nothing more than a slanderous hate group. Why then have I said that I appreciate them? Simply put it’s because what they do is exactly what is transcribed in the Bible. Their pickets, signs and actions all are acceptable within Biblical terms. They preach positively for the deaths of soldier’s, abortion clinics being bombed, gays being murdered and non believers being killed, maimed or humiliated. The Westboro Baptist Church is truly a group of sick f–ks the likes of which we haven’t seen front and center since the Klan during it’s height of power.
The real reason I appreciate WBC is simply because through their willful ignorance and disturbing actions they reaffirm my lack of faith in religious institution. Remember that these people are given tax exemption status from the United States government, so like it or not they are truly considered a legitimate sect of Christianity.
“Where is the artistic value of shooting innocent victims?” Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa)
This quote is the exact problem with politicians today and by that I mean politicians that were born in 1933, which Chuck Grassley was. How is Senator Grassley, a 79 year old man, going to comment on video games when more than likely he has not played a single damn game. Maybe Pong, but he then said it was a fad and went back to reading about deregulation.
Everything f–ked up and annoying is encompassed within Senator Grassley’s bullsh-t laden speech about gun control issues. Again dodging gun control problems that do need fixed (such as auditing of gun stores inventory is not required) and blaming it on entertainment based things. If Senator Grassley wasn’t a dumbass who had interns write his speech’s and read a few articles or hell even reviews on these games that involve guns, he would quickly realize a vast majority of them (if not all) do not have you killing what he deems innocent victims, but have you killing an enemy, be it of the state or of your personal character. Video game culture is not to blame, politician culture, Chuck Grassley’s culture is to blame.
