You no doubt have heard the ignorant and stupid comments made by Rob Parker on ESPN’s First Take debate show and just like most people you were flabbergasted by what he said.
“…Is he a brother, or is he a cornball brother?” Parker said, “Well, because I want to find out about him. I don’t know, because I keep hearing these things. We all know he has a white fiancée. There was all this talk about he’s a Republican, which, there’s no information [about this] at all. I’m just trying to dig deeper as to why he has an issue. Because we did find out with Tiger Woods. Tiger Woods was like I’ve got black skin but don’t call me black. So people got to wondering about Tiger Woods early on.”
No Rob, YOU, YOUUUUUUUU wondered about this. Most people didn’t care. Was it talked about that Tiger Woods was black? Yes, because he played in a sport that had very few minorities, especially black men, involved in it professionally. Woods has paved the way for all minorities within pro golf and made golf a much more widely viewed sport to boot. Woods did not want to be known for his race, he wanted to be known for his greatness. Robert Griffin III just wants the same thing. He doesn’t want to be the best “black” quarterback, he wants to just be the best quarterback. Rob Parker however, has brought in unnecessary racial bigotry again and deserves to lose his job over it.
